So what does it mean to be humble in the biblical sense? We
need look no further than the characteristics of Jesus. He had every right to
see Himself as special, privileged, and worthy of honor. But instead, He
displayed a deferential attitude and became subservient to those He sought to
seek and to save. Should I not emulate Him in those very characteristics? Had
my recent salvation experience taught me nothing? Through it, did I not
recognize that my knowledge, influence, and power were very limited? Doesn’t
the Bible urge us that “whoever exalts himself will be humbled” (Matthew 23:12)
Today watch this Afar Video and pray that they might receive Christ:

I am nothing without You, O God! Let me see others through Your eyes - as Your beautiful masterpieces, created by Your hand, & loved by You. Let me remember that I am nothing but a sinner saved by Your grace!! Help to remain poor in spirit, humble, and serving.
God, two things I ask of You today: (1) move in a mighty way among the Afar people as those that have been called to journey there deliver Your unfalling message of salvation and redemption; and (2) move in my own life so that I may be humbled. I willingly allow whatever is necessary to break my spirit and to be humbled. And in the process, Father, become more like Your Son, Jesus Christ...for He exhibited a humbled nature by coming to earth on a mission to restore the relationship You desired all along.
Help me to incorporate some ways in which I can demonstrate a humbleness to others today, such as: (1) saying "It's my pleasure" when someone thanks me for doing something for them; (2) be willing to give credit for someone else's idea rather than taking it as my own; (3) admitting when I am wrong and asking forgiveness immediately, rather than later; (4) admitting that I don't know or understand everything; (5) realizing anew that I am God's creation, not my own; (6) recognizing that my skills have only been developed by and through the help of others; and finally (7) learning to listen more and talk less.
The bottom line: my desire is to be more like Jesus. Thank you, Lord, for lovingly and patiently teaching me Your ways.
Lord God I pray for humbleness of heart to love as Christ love, to forgive as Christ forgive. I pray Lord God for your strength to be in me. I pray asking Lord God that you open my eyes to see your glory, and my ears to hear your Word and follow your directions regardless of whom is speaking. I pray to be humble as a little child, to sit at Your feet, teach me Lord Jesus. I submit myself to be lead by Christ Jesus in all things. I thank you Lord that you are in control, in Jesus Christ name I pray, a-men.
